A Wedding For Every Season at RT Lodge

At RT Lodge, tucked at the end of a winding country lane on the historic campus of Maryville College, each season brings its own character. Surrounded by forest and just minutes from Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains, the property changes with the landscape, from wildflowers in spring, to deep green shade in summer, brilliant foliage in fall, and the quiet glow of winter evenings by the fire. For couples planning a wedding, that means there’s no single “best” time to celebrate here. Instead, every season offers something distinct.

Spring: New Beginnings

As winter fades, the grounds begin to come alive. Wildflowers emerge, gardens fill with fresh color, and the soft green of new leaves settles over the property. Spring weddings at RT Lodge feel intimate and unhurried. The Lodge lawns and patios become natural gathering places, framed by a landscape that feels both vibrant and peaceful. With mild temperatures and blooming surroundings, late March, April and May offer a beautiful setting for couples drawn to the beauty of blooming gardens and mild temperatures.

Summer: A Hidden Estate in the Woods

By summer, the forest canopy is fully grown, creating a natural cathedral of shade across the property. Filtered sunlight moves through the trees, and outdoor spaces feel tucked away from the outside world. The covered veranda, expansive lawn, and woodland setting invite guests to linger between events. Whether gathering for cocktails, enjoying lawn games, or sharing stories around a fire pit, summer wedding weekends take on the feeling of a private estate celebration hidden among the trees.

Fall: A Tennessee Tradition

Autumn has long been one of the most sought-after seasons at RT Lodge. As the Appalachian forest transforms, the property becomes immersed in shades of amber, rust, and gold. The nearby mountains take on their signature blue haze, creating a backdrop that feels unmistakably East Tennessee. Fall foliage isn't simply part of the scenery. It becomes part of the experience. From ceremonies on the lawn to portraits beneath the changing leaves, every corner of the property reflects the season. It's no surprise that October and November wedding weekends are often reserved well in advance.

Winter: Cozy Gatherings and Candlelight

There is a particular kind of beauty to winter at RT Lodge. Inviting fireplaces glow throughout the Lodge. Cozy corners, warm drinks, and s'mores invite guests to slow down and spend time together. When the trees stand bare and candlelight fills the dining rooms, the property takes on a sense of warmth that feels both elegant and deeply welcoming. Winter weddings offer a quieter atmosphere, one that naturally encourages connection and celebration among family and friends.

A Wedding Weekend That Feels Like Home

One of the things that makes a wedding at RT Lodge unique is the opportunity to enjoy the entire property together. Rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, receptions, and farewell brunches unfold in one place, allowing guests to relax and fully immerse themselves in the celebration. With 55 guest rooms onsite and accommodations for up to 200 wedding guests, the experience feels more like a private estate gathering than a traditional venue.

Dining Rooted in Season and Place

At the heart of every wedding weekend is the shared experience of gathering around the table. The Restaurant at RT Lodge has earned recognition from the Michelin Guide, reflecting Executive Chef Trevor Stockton's thoughtful approach to seasonal southern cuisine. Drawing inspiration from local farms, including Stockton Farms in Gainesboro, Tennessee, menus are shaped by what the season offers and crafted to reflect the unique character of each celebration. From rehearsal dinners to reception meals beneath the custom Sperry Tent, every menu is designed to feel personal, memorable, and deeply connected to place.

A New Way to Unwind

Our new spa on property, The Carriage House, offers another way for guests to slow down and enjoy the wedding weekend experience. Nestled within the woodland setting of RT Lodge, the spa features seven treatment rooms, a sauna, comfortable lounge spaces, and a thoughtfully curated retail shop - perfect for pre-wedding massages and facials, post-celebration recovery treatments, couples’ treatments, and weekend relaxation.
